Baldwin Bashes Bashir, NY Post, TMZ, and ‘Fundamentalist Wing of Gay Advocacy’

"They killed my show."

Alec Baldwin spoke with a Gothamist reporter Tuesday afternoon on the news of his official ouster at MSNBC—and he let the haymakers fly, bashing Martin Bashir, the New York Post, TMZ, and what he calls the “fundamentalist wing of gay advocacy.”

Free now from any backlash at MSNBC, Baldwin (who is currently filming in Hawaii on the latest Cameron Crowe production) had some choice words for his previous employer and those in the media and on the left who “killed” his show.

Some highlights from the Gothamist piece (needless to say, reader discretion advised):

Showing a video in which I call someone a 'c*cksucking something'... you can't really tell what I'm saying, and we live in a world in which the phrase 'TMZ's enhanced audio' exists. 'TMZ's enhanced audio.' And then with The Post... there's nothing you can do when you get thrown in this washing machine, nothing. You know? Nothing. All you end up doing is just defending yourself all day long.

Martin Bashir's on the air, and he made his comment on the air! I dispute half the comment I made... if I called him 'c*cksucking maggot' or a 'c*cksucking motherf*cker'... 'faggot' is not the word that came out of my mouth. That I know. But you've got the fundamentalist wing of gay advocacy—Rich Ferraro and Andrew Sullivan—they're out there, they've got you. Rich Ferraro, this is probably one of his greatest triumphs. They killed my show. And I have to take some responsibility for that myself.

Baldwin’s beef with MSNBC and peer Martin Bashir—whose on air, scripted invective aimed at Sarah Palin were far more vile and vicious than Baldwin’s off air remarks—is legitimate on many levels. MSNBC’s hypocrisy in its unequal handling of the two hosts’ verbal sins is unjustifiable.

Baldwin’s aggressive attack on Ferraro and Sullivan stems from their vocal condemnation of Baldwin for his mounting record of homophobic slurs.

On an unrelated note: Martin Bashir has now missed the second day in a row on MSNBC...
