Tuesday, Rush Limbaugh highlighted the media's blatant hypocrisy in its simultaneous condemnation of Alec Baldwin and Lara Logan yet exoneration of Martin Bashir and President Obama.
Reacting to the twin breaking stories of MSNBC’s dismissal of Baldwin for his most recent homophobic slur and Logan’s forced leave of absence for her Benghazi report debacle, Limbaugh jumped on the clear parallels with Baldwin’s and Logan’s apparently unforgivable missteps (vile hate speech and deception, respectively) and the far more flagrant and damaging iniquities of Bashir and Obama.
First Rush addressed MSNBC’s Baldwin-Bashir hypocrisy and the leftist media’s double standard:
According to Richard Johnson, the New York Post, Alec Baldwin is gone because of the homosexual slurs that he shouted at that paparazzi photographer. Martin Bashir, everything's cool. Lara Logan at CBS and her producer have taken a leave of absence over their Benghazi report. I'm not kidding. I just now saw it on the Drudge Report. "After an intensive internal review, Lara Logan is taking a leave of absence."
...And there sits Martin Bashir at MSNBC as though it's no big deal, everything's hunky-dory.
I'll just tell you again, folks, if Bill O'Reilly or if, say, Sean Hannity. If Martha MacCallum had gone on Fox and said that Sarah Palin ought to be... what Bashir said, I guarantee you Roger Ailes would have stormed out of his office and down to the studio and they would have been yanked off the air that moment. Anybody at Fox.
... It's not only tolerated at MSNBC, an apology is really insufficient in the case of something like that, what Bashir said somebody ought to do to Sarah Palin. I'm telling you, these people are reprehensible. They are mean. They are extremist. They are constantly filled with rage and anger...
Next Rush stressed the inequity of Logan’s single unwitting lie and Obama’s repeated, deliberate lies (and lies about his lies).
You know, just to show you how our sense of proportion is all out of whack, let me ask you: What is worse, Lara Logan's report on Benghazi, or Obama lying and destroying health care in America? Who should be taking a leave of absence? If you ask me, Lara Logan is a piker compared to what Obama has done. There ought to be marches in the streets over this. I don't know that there won't be, either, when the time comes, as more people are affected by this. This is just entirely outrageous, the scope of this lie.
It was strategic, it was purposeful, it was intentional fraud on an entire country, if you boil it down. ... If Lara Logan wants to take a leave of absence, shouldn't Obama? You know, Obama didn't just commit fraud on Obamacare. What about Benghazi? He lied about that, to kick it past the elections. I mean, I can give you countless reasons why Obama ought to be taking a leave of absence, in a real world situation.
