While the Obama administration takes a "second victory lap" over Obamacare enrollments, the number of the so-called "invincibles," the young adults needed to make the math work for the program, remains below necessary levels. The New York Times, in an article covering the President's Thursday press conference, noted that despite the 8 million people reportedly enrolled in the program, the marketplace remains short of the right amount of certain population segments to become financially sustainable:
While the number of younger applicants has risen, it remains below the level that some private analysts said is necessary for the long-term viability of the insurance marketplace.
According to the White House, 28% of the Obamacare enrollees are in the 18-34 year old category.
