Taking a cue from CNN who launched an ad last week claiming the news network is all about “facts first,” MSNBC has a new promo telling us its liberal hosts, liberal guests, and liberal talking points are “not an echo chamber.” Take two seconds to recover from all of that laughter.
Sorry, MSNBC, if we’re not convinced, but your ad features Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough, Chris Hayes, Joy Reid, Rachel Maddow, and Lawrence O’Donnell — not exactly a lineup of centrist voices.
Yet, the ad boasts: “This is not an echo chamber. This is not a one-way street. This is a dialogue that looks at the world and all its complexities from every side.”
But perhaps the most laughable moment is when Chris Matthews declares that the MSNBC philosophy is “exactly what the founders of this country imagined.”
That’s a doozy, right there.
Newsbusters provides the transcript of the ad:
ANNOUNCER: This is not an echo chamber.
CHRIS HAYES: What is the project that the Republicans are pursuing?
ANNOUNCER: This is not a one-way street.
GEORGE WILL: Overturning the norms of American politics was a campaign promise.
ANNOUNCER: This is a dialogue.
MICHAEL STEELE: The obligations right now for the members of my party is remember your history.
ANNOUNCER: That looks at the world...
JOE SCARBOROUGH: That’s what “America First” means to me, country over party.
ANNOUNCER: ...and all its complexities...
RACHEL MADDOW: Don’t watch what they say, watch what they do.
ANNOUNCER: ...from every side.
CHRIS MATTHEWS: It’s exactly what the founders of this country imagined.
By the end, MSNBC declares, “This is who we are,” and we couldn’t agree more. We’ve documented plenty here at TR!
