Wal-Mart Caters to the Occupy-Centric Interior Designer

The invisible hand...

Wal-Mart, the quintessential corporation whose founder, were he still alive, would be the über-one-percenter with perhaps twice Bill Gates’ fortune, is exploiting yet another lucrative market – the Occupy Wall Street protestor with fifty-bucks to spend on wall art for their hipster loft or flat.

Occupy Wall Street at Zuccotti Park, Lower Manhattan, Manhattan, New York City, New York State, USA is a licensed reproduction that was printed on Premium Heavy Stock Paper which captures all of the vivid colors and details of the original.

The print is offered by The Poster Corp who, according to their retailer profile at walmart.com:

… is the premiere destination for Fine Art Prints, Posters, Movie Posters, Music Posters, Mini Prints, Giclee Prints, Serigraphs, and related products and services.

The 27x9 inch reproduction, printed on Premium Heavy Stock Paper may be excessive for a pop-up-tent in the park, but according to the description at walmart.com, it would make a “great addition to your home or office.”

Between that amusing sales pitch and the $42.57 price tag, it’s clear that Wal-Mart knows even this audience better than they know themselves. Far from the beleaguered working poor, Occupy is people with members of the American middle-class, a people so affluent they can chose to live lives emulating poverty to bolster their own sense of moral superiority.

The invisible hand has a profound sense of irony.
