Over 270,000 people have signed a petition asking the White House to deport pop star Justin Bieber and revoke his green card. On Friday, the Obama administration responded to the petition and used it as an opportunity to hype immigration reform.
The petition was created in January after the Canadian born singer was arrested for drag racing and being intoxicated in Miami, FL. Since then the successful crooner has continued partying hard, using his bodyguards to beat up people and appearing belligerent and disrespectful in a deposition video. The petition states that Bieber is "dangerous" and "reckless" and that "We the people" would like him removed from the United States.
The White House's response said,
So we'll leave it to others to comment on Mr. Bieber's case, but we're glad you care about immigration issues. Because our current system is broken.
The response continued by saying that 11 million people are "living in the shadows" and that "immigration reform" will "grow" the U.S. economy. Continuing to push the reform the petition response wrapped up with:
All around the world, people look at America as a place of opportunity. And with comprehensive, common-sense immigration reform, we can make sure it stays that way.
