Starbucks Chairman Says Trump’s ‘Episodic Chaos’ Creating ‘Anxiety’ for Consumers

Wait, aren’t you supposed to be selling coffee?

Starbucks chairman and former CEO (as of April) Howard Schultz can be heard in newly-leaked video telling employees back in February that President Trump “is creating episodic chaos every single day” and how, in turn, that was “affecting consumer behavior.”

“The world is screwed up,” Schultz said. “People are unsettled. There is a tremendous amount of pressure and anxiety in America."

"We have a president that is creating episodic chaos every single day, and that is no doubt affecting consumer behavior," he added.

Schultz was an avid Hillary Clinton supporter during the election and felt she could best serve the interests of the American people and counter the “bigotry and hate and divisiveness” coming from the Trump campaign. But things didn't turn out like he wanted.

Back in January, Schultz announced his company was hiring 10,000 refugees in response to President Trump’s travel ban. He also believed that the American dream had been “called into question” with Trump’s executive order.

But no matter how much he blames Trump for ruining the economy, Schultz said Starbucks has “an antidote:”

"And that's the sense of community, the third place, and the environment that we create around family."

Schultz told CNBC back in December when Trump supporters called for a boycott of the overpriced coffee spot, “I don’t think on any level that the brand or what we represent is at odds with the president-elect or his supporters.”

What Schultz doesn’t seem to understand is that most Americans don’t want to pay $5 for a cup of coffee with a dollop of anti-Trump agenda on top.
