On his Tuesday night program, Hugh Hewitt hosted Peter Baker, the White House correspondent for the NY Times. According to Baker, Russian President Putin does not have much respect for President Obama. Baker says that Putin has tested President Obama on a number of occasions and did not come away feeling intimidated.
The focus of the discussion was the day's events in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, including Putin's press conference claiming there were no Russian soldiers in Ukraine and President Obama's response.
Hewitt:
...Within the Republican Party, there are a number of people demanding that the President act tougher. Do you think Putin, are there indications, not do you think, but are there indications that Putin views Obama as significantly softer than Bush?
Baker:
I don’t think he has a lot of respect for President Obama. I think that’s fair. And I do think that he has tested, in his mind, President Obama on a number of occasions and did not come away feeling intimidated.
