On CBS’s Face the Nation Sunday, while discussing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump being used in a recruitment video for the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group al-Shabaab, Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus commented on what she perceives to be Trump's responsibility in driving people into the arms of ISIS with his anti-Muslim rhetoric:
“I think the only word that comes to mind here watching your interview with him, which was terrific, is appalling. In terms of his lack of substance. His lack of deep thinking. His failure to answer really serious questions like the one that you asked him about, what is the implication of your turning up in this ISIS video? Because he said very hurtful things that really can encourage people to join ISIS. And how do you deal with that? He doesn’t have answers to these questions or any serious questions. And I really am just by myself thunderstruck that we’re at 2016 and at this point.”
What she's thunderstruck by, and finds appalling, is that in 2016 a Presidential candidate dares to criticize Islam and Muslims. What she should be thunderstruck by, and find appalling, is that in 2016 the West is wringing its hands over the march of a medieval death cult across the globe.
Something else appalling: the frankly insane progressive notion that people become terrorists because their feelings are hurt. Ask yourself, what insult would possibly drive you to join a death cult that enslaves women, buries children alive, hurls gay men from rooftops, and proudly shares its ghastly, videotaped massacres of prisoners and non-believers? How much longer are leftists like Ruth Marcus going to keep insisting that WE in America and the West create the terrorists because we're not nice and tolerant enough?
