Reporting on crime in Oakland, CA is a full time job, and KTVU's Heather Holmes may deserve some hazard pay.
During a live report on on a woman who was robbed and beaten, Holmes became a victim of a robbery, herself.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports Holmes' purse was stolen right out of the station's news truck while she was on the air:
Holmes and a photographer were standing near the corner of 7th Street and Broadway in the city’s downtown for their report. Their van wasn’t locked, because the crew had only recently arrived at the corner, and the vehicle was only steps away. Someone used Holmes’ bank card at a nearby Chevron gas station on Castro Street within 20 minutes of the theft.
Holmes took to Twitter after the robbery and highlighted the irony:
R u kidding me? Doing a live report at @oaklandpoliceca headquarters & my purse is stolen from the live truck! We were parked outside #OPD!!

Oh the irony of it all...while reporting on violent mugging, my purse is stolen. Thieves used my bank card 20 mins after swiping my bag.

Credit cards now canceled. Locks changed. Lesson here... be aware of your surroundings at all times, including at police headquarters.
