Sanders Takes on the DNC, Endorses Chair's Opponent

“Clearly, I favor her opponent.”

Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is taking on the Democratic National Committee. Sanders said he plans to support the opponent of DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz in the Florida congressional primary.

Sanders said he favors Tim Canova for Congress in Florida's 23rd district on CNN's State of Union, explaining that Canova's views are much closer to his own.

“Clearly, I favor her opponent,” he said. “His views are much closer to mine.”

Debbie Wasserman Schultz said she would remain neutral in the contest for the Democrat's nomination for president.

“Even though Senator Sanders has endorsed my opponent, I remain, as I have been from the beginning, neutral in the presidential Democratic primary,” she said. “I look forward to working together with him for Democratic victories in the fall.”

Sanders has accused both the DNC and Wasserman Schultz of favoring his opponent Hillary Clinton. He's also criticized the committee's nomination process that he says has helped Clinton.

We will oppose any attempt to rig the system and deny voters of either party their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
