Punk rock legend and all-around bad-boy Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols spoke to Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain and defended President Trump, calling him a “possible friend.”

Rotten, now a U.S. citizen, explained his view of our new president and his disdain for how he’s portrayed in the media:

“The Donald; there’s a complicated fellow. And as one journalist once said to me, ‘Is he the political Sex Pistol?’ In a way…

“What I dislike is the left-wing media in America are trying to smear the bloke as a racist and that’s completely not true. There’s many, many problems with him as a human being, but he’s not that. And there just might be a chance that something good will come out of that situation because he terrifies politicians and this is joy to behold to me.”

Morgan agreed, saying Trump is very “Sex Pistols” as the “archetypal anti-establishment character.”

“Dare I say, a possible friend,” Rotten added.

As far as Brexit is concerned, Rotten also sympathizes with the plight of working class people and said leaving the European Union would be a good thing for Britain.

“The working class has spoke and I’m one of them, and I’m with them,” he said.
