Pro-Choice Ad Portrays Pro-Life Politicians As Creepy Doctors

"Stand Together"

In response to all the legislative assaults on abortion in 38 states, the ACLU pro-abort project "Stand Together" has sought to enliven the intense debate with their recently-released ad depicting those seeking to protect the unborn as creepy doctors looking to invade women's medical care.

The video begins with a simple question: "Would you go to politicians for medical advice?" Since much of the opposition to Obamacare has rested on that very premise, a wide majority of Americans would probably say no. However, the video does not address the issue of whether or not politicians should get involved with something as complex as healthcare since its underlying intention is to say politicians, particularly male politicians, have no say in whether or not a woman can kill the life of her unborn child, because that would, of course, violate her "reproductive rights."

In the video, a thirty-something year old woman visits a doctor who, unexpectedly, turns out to be a recently-elected state legislator played by The Onion's Joe Garden. The politician turned doctor asks her questions like "do you vote in this district?" and misuses the blood pressure machine by wrapping it around her head.

"Clearly, politicians don't belong in your doctor's office," a voiceover concludes. "But they are interfering with personal medical decisions by attacking reproductive healthcare. We can stop them."

According to Jezebel, the latest ad is an attempt to "get the youths to give a hoot."
