MSNBC Panel Enraged Pope Francis Met Kim Davis

How dare he?

Upon the Vatican confirming that Pope Francis did indeed meet with persona non grata Kim Davis while visiting the United States last week, liberals have been scrambling to spin the story in their favor and have lost their minds upon realization that Pope Francis may actually be Catholic after all.

HuffPost Gay Voices, The Advocate, and the entire prime-time lineup for MSNBC Wednesday were rife with blog posts and panels excoriating the Roman Pontiff for having the audacity to meet with Kim Davis and, worse still, impart onto her gifts and words of encouragement.

Speaking on All In with Chris Hayes Wednesday night were notorious anti-religious bigots Shaun King of the Daily Kos and the wickedly hateful Dan Savage, who both expressed deep disappointment over the meeting, believing Pope Francis has now encouraged discrimination of LGBT couples.

In a moment intellectual honesty, however, the liberal panelists did say that much of the disappointment stems from liberals "reading too much into what Pope Francis thinks about gay marriage and the LGBT community in general."

Quite strangely, Shaun King somehow found some comparison between Kim Davis and George Zimmerman, saying the meeting with Kim Davis "would be like the Pope meeting with George Zimmerman." How the shooting of a black teenager pummeling a man's head into the cement equates in any way to a County Clerk standing up for her religious convictions, Shaun King did not specify.

Dan Savage, pure in his anti-Catholic commitment, calling Pope Francis' media persona a "smokescreen" and accused Pope Francis of being two-faced:

I think it’s very revealing. You know, the Pope has said the church needs to de-emphasize social issues, needs to not just talk about gay marriage and abortion, but this secret meeting where he encouraged this woman to continue to discriminate against LGBT couples and then framed her as a conscientious objector....I think it really reveals what goes on with the Catholic church under the Pope, which is that this de-emphasizing of these social issues is – I don't wall it a racket or a scam, but it’s kind of a smokescreen that the Pope still believes these things, the church – the church said it is not going to change its position on same-sex marriage, but then for the Pope to turn around and meet with someone like Kim Davis, and tell her – and encourage her to keep it up, keep discriminating against LGBT couples, it just shows that the church wishes it could engage in this activity[.]
