Just last week TruthRevolt praised British singer/songwriter Morrissey for sticking up for Brexit. Now we have to take him down a notch again after an interview with der Spiegel this week in which he said that, if given the chance, he’d kill President Donald Trump to ensure the “safety of humanity.”
Breitbart reports that the former Smiths frontman, 58, said that if he were given a button that could instantly kill Trump, he wouldn’t hesitate to press it.
“I would [push it], for the safety of humanity,” Morrissey told der Spiegel. “It has nothing to do with my personal opinion of his face or his family, but in the interest of humanity I would push.”
The singer also explained that it was the news media that ultimately created Trump and ensured his victory over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
“The American media helped Trump, yes, they first created it,” he explained. “Whether they criticize him or laugh at him, he does not care, he just wants to see his picture and his name. The American media have shot themselves in the leg.”
Morrissey added that he “never expected” Trump to be elected president and has “no faith” in the political establishment anymore. We don't have any faith in it anymore either, Morrissey, or in the news media. That's why Trump is president.
“He grabs after everything like a little child. He is not a leader. He is vermin,” he said. Gee, that's a little harsh, but we'll give Morrissey a pass this time because, as Breitbart noted, the singer has previously slammed British politicians for failing to name Islam as the cause of terrorist attacks in the U.K., and has also taken aim at Barack Obama in the past, having called the former community organizer “useless” in a 2012 interview.
“The world does not want to look at Donald Trump’s face for years to come,” he said in a 2015 interview with the Daily Beast. Well, the world may not, but the world doesn't get to pick American presidents, and American voters preferred Trump's face to the terrifying alternative: Hillary's.
