In response to boycotts launched by singers Elton John and Ricky Martin against Italian fashion designers Dolce & Gabbana for having publicly condemned "non-traditional families" who conceive children via IVF and artificial insemination, LifeSiteNews has launched a petition in support of the two men, having gained over 16,000 signatures in just three days.

"It's not us who invented the family," Dolce said in an interview in Italy’s Panorama magazine. "You are born and you have a mother and a father. Or at least it should be so, that's why I'm skeptical about what I call the sons of the chemistry, synthetic children, wombs for rent, seeds chosen by a catalog. And then, let's go to these children and explain them who is their mother. Would you ever accept to be a daughter of the chemistry? Procreation needs to be an act of love."

“No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed,” they said.

"We oppose gay adoptions," the two told Panorama. "The only family is the traditional one." "The family is not a fad. In it, there is a supernatural sense of belonging," Gabbana added.

Immediately after the controversial statements went public, singers Elton John and Ricky Martin announced that they will be boycotting the fashion empire along with Madonna and numerous other gay-friendly celebrities. Yet Docle and Gabanna haven't been without support though, with multiple children born out of those "non-traditional families" coming out on various conservative news outlets to express their dismay of having grown up in a home without a mom and a dad.

LifeSiteNews petitions have been very effective in the past. Just recently, when gay activists launched a petition to have the hit TLC reality show 19 Kids & Counting removed from television over the Duggar family's support for traditional families, LifeSiteNews launched a counter-petition that immediately surpassed the gay activists' petition, amassing 18,000 signatures.
