FLASHBACK: Remember When MSM Fawned Over Obama’s First Speech to Congress?

Not happening for Trump!

The folks over at Newsbusters have a great memory. In the buildup to President Trump’s first address to Congress on Tuesday night, many in the mainstream media remain skeptical about his agenda and are concerned he’s parading around the families of victims of illegal alien violence like "human props."

But when Barack Obama gave his first congressional address, the media fawned, sounding more like “movie critic blurbs on a movie poster,” reminds Newsbusters:

“He took us to the mountain tops.”

“Big and bold.”

“He wowed us!”

Further commentary after the speech went like this:

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews gushed “He wowed us!” CNN’s Jack Cafferty proclaimed “He’s got what it takes to lead this country back into the sunlight.”ABC’s George Stephanopoulos cheered that Obama “began on hope” and “ended on hope.”

Stephanopoulos’s colleague Terry Moran called the speech “big and bold” but never called it liberal, even though it was a wish list of leftist policies. On the other hand, Governor Bobby Jindal, who delivered the GOP response that night, was called a “Debbie Downer” by CBS’s Maggie Rodriguez.

Not a single Republican is holding his/her breath tonight that these will be any where near the types of responses Trump will get from the national press.
