According to a report, Barbara Walters thinks that Monica Lewinsky might be what 'The View' for a much-needed ratings bump.

The legendary newswoman, who created the show, says the world’s most famous former White House intern would be a “runaway success,” the Daily Mail Online reports, citing a network source.

"Barbara believes that Monica could make ‘The View’ competitive and compelling, and while a lot of Washington’s elite may scratch the show off its must-visit press list, the younger demographic of online users would tune in daily to see what she had to say," the source told the Daily Mail.

Insiders say that Walters has reached out to ABC bigwigs about Lewinsky.

“Barbara has been like a godmother to Monica ever since their infamous interview in 1999 following the Bill Clinton scandal,” Mail Online reported, citing a source close to the show. “She’s always believed Monica got the short end of the stick in the court of public opinion and has tirelessly defended her on the show over the years.”

Most recently the show saw the departure of Rosie O'Donnell, apparently due to disagreements between O'Donnell and Goldberg, Ratings are continuing to drop.
