Democratic candidate for Congress Clay Aiken admitted Tuesday that he "hasn't paid attention" to the details of the VA scandal.

In an interview with The Today Show, the perennial reality show loser wouldn't comment on whether Secretary Erik Shinseki should resign over the scandal that has embroiled Washington DC for the past few weeks.

“I think we have a lot of people who are making decisions without being in the room,” he answered. “I’m not going to be one of those folks who wasn’t in the hearings, hasn’t paid attention to those details and wasn’t privy to that stuff in making decisions for that.”

As IJReview points out, Aiken did go on to say that he feels that the V.A. should not be in the healthcare business as much as the “veterans’ care business.”

According to the University of North Carolina, nearly 736,000 veterans live in the Tar Heel state, representing about 10% of the state's population. If Aiken wishes to represent those vets when he goes to Congress, he might want to start paying attention to the growing scandal.
