Tea Party activists are urging state Senator Chris McDaniel to run in the November elections as a write-in candidate.

Tea Party Nation President Judson Phillips emailed supporters, “When the Republican Establishment acts like Democrats, what is the point of supporting them? Every McDaniel supporter in Mississippi from DeSoto County in the North to Biloxi in the South should stand up today and tell Chris McDaniel that if he runs as a write-in candidate in November, they will support him.”

McDaniel lost to six-term Republican incumbent Thad Cochran in an incredibly close run-off election with the disparity in the vote amounting to less than 2%. But McDaniel, who refused to concede, said, “There’s something a bit unusual about a Republican primary that’s decided by liberal Democrats” after nasty mailers were sent out alleging racist intentions of the Tea Party.

“Before this race ends, we have to be absolutely certain that the Republican primary was won by Republican voters,” added McDaniel.

Mere hours following Thad Cochran claiming victory, a Facebook page entitled “Write-in campaign for Chris McDaniel” appeared.
