President Barack Obama said this week that there should be no religious test for refugees entering the United States, but Tuesday, Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush said he is in favor of giving special treatment to religious minorities, including Christians, being persecuted by ISIS.
"I've had this view for a long while, that religious minorities in the Middle East and around the world are deserving of our support," Bush said
In an interview with Bloomberg Politics, Bush also said that he has concerns about security when it comes to Syrian refugees and called for proper screening before anyone is let into the United States. That said, Bush stated clearly he is not in favor of an outright ban on refugees from the war torn country.
"The answer to this is not to ban people from coming," Bush said. "The answer is to lead, to resolve the problem in Syria."
More than half of the governors in the country now say they want nothing to do with President Obama's plan to import 10,000 refugees into the United States over the next year.
