Bill: No More Paid Speeches if Hill Wins

Says he will drop his $500K fee

If Hillary Clinton wins, Bill says he will stop taking paid speaking gigs. "Because once you get to be president, then you’re just making a daily story. I will still give speeches, though, on the subjects I’m interested in, and I really enjoy those things," Clinton said during an interview with Bloomberg's Betty Liu at a meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative.

Bill Clinton has been charging $500,000 per speech to some of the biggest corporations in the world as well as to foreign governments and interests. Hillary had charged more than $300,000 per speech before giving up paid speaking engagements shortly before launching her presidential bid earlier this year.

Defending the work of his foundation, Clinton said that while there is plenty of innuendo, nothing has been proven. A flurry of reporting on the Clintons and their financial matters kicked off earlier this year with the release of the book Clinton Cash accompanied by extensive reporting from the New York Times, Washington Post and elsewhere.
