On Monday, Hamas fired 30 missiles into Israel in 10 minutes but thankfully, no buildings were damaged and only one resident is being treated for wounds, IsrealNationalNews.com reports.
The report states that rockets hit Sha'ar HaNegev, the Eshkol Region, Netivot, Sderot, and Be'er Sheva between 8:00 - 8:10 pm IST. Eyewitnesses report seeing the rockets just west of Jerusalem.
Israeli Defense Forces are said to have announced a possible escalation on the Gaza border shortly before the attack. Photos also surfaced showing tanks and 1,500 troops gathering at the border.
The Israeli Air Force also struck a "significant terror tunnel" and other "terror targets" earlier in the day.
USAToday reports that the deaths of nine Hamas militants in the targeted areas are the reason for the retaliation and has the total number of rocket hits at 39.
Preschools without bomb shelters have been closed and the alert level has been raised.
