During CNN's Tuesday night election coverage, Wolf Blitzer was understated all night as Republican Ken Cuccinelli maintained a surprising lead. Multiple times throughout the evening, Blitzer and CNN anchor John King would cut in and warn that, while Cuccinelli was in the lead, many votes remained to be counted.

During one of the updates, Democrat opponent Terry McAuliffe actually went ahead by 5,000 votes--a lead he would eventually hold. Blitzer's energy and voice level picked up noticeably when he realized that McAuliffe had finally taken the lead..
