‘Weekend Update’ Slanders Weinstein for One Minute; Trump Gets 3

It's clear they think Trump is worse.

On Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update,” hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che tore into accused sexual abuser and ex-Hollywood hitmaker Harvey Weinstein for a solid one minute and 26 seconds. It was about time since it was alleged they decided against a joke for last week’s telecast. But as good of a ribbing as they gave to Weinstein, it was overshadowed by the fact that they spent at least three minutes tearing President Trump a new one.

Jost started off telling viewers that Apple’s new emojis will include someone wrapped in a towel, a vomiting face, and a shushing finger, which accurately describes “what it was like to work for Harvey Weinstein,” he joked.

Then, Jost mocked Weinstein for his plans to fly to Europe and enter sex rehab:

“He doesn’t need sex rehab. He needs a specialized facility where there are no women, no contact with the outside world, metal bars, and it’s a prison.”

Che jumped in on Weinstein’s physical appearance and described him as looking like “chewed bubble gum rolled in cat hair,” and “a well-dressed skin tag.” But a quick two or three jokes later and the co-hosts were back in familiar territory with relentless one-liners aimed at Trump for a full three minutes, including a joke about Trump’s auto-correct working to ensure Trump didn’t type two Gs when talking about the African nation of Niger. (See, because he's racist!)

So, no applause for bravery for the SNL team. They went soft and waited a good two weeks before unleashing on a sexual predator, and only AFTER he was fully blackballed in Hollywood.
