CNN host Don Lemon obviously didn’t receive a trigger warning before speaking with black conservative pundit Paris Dennard who called Lemon’s network “fake news.” His feelings were so hurt, Lemon cut short the segment and walked off the set as the picture faded to black.
Lemon was trying to discuss the cost to taxpayers in protecting the new first family, something he rarely did, if ever, when the Obamas carried their security teams on their many extravagant outings. But suddenly, Trump needs to hold down the costs like, now.
There to call him out on this explicit bias was Dennard, who had already dropped the label “fake news” on Lemon’s segment. Lemon punched back, saying nothing about this was fake, just clean, honest reporting of federal expenses:
“Please stop it with that stupid talking point that this is a fake news story. If you don’t want to participate in the news stories on this network, then don’t come on and participate. But don’t call them fake because you don’t agree with them.”
Dennard, with the most calm, cool, and collected manner one could imagine, simply replied, “Don, this is a fake news story, in my opinion, because the underlying assumption is that…”
But Lemon wouldn’t let him finish and walked off in disgust.
