WaPo Columnist Brings Sharpton Pie to 'Celebrate' Obama

Dana Milbank, from The Washington Post, brought Al Sharpton a pie to celebrate the House vote on raising the debt ceiling.

Dana Milbank, from The Washington Post, a frequent guest on MSNBC's Politics Nation brought Al Sharpton pie to celebrate the House vote on raising the debt ceiling.

Tuesday, the House voted 221-201 to raise the debt ceiling with no other legislation attached to it. Both Milbank and Sharpton saw this as a win for President Obama. Sharpton played this video of Speaker of the House John Boehner singing "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah" then stated Republicans did not believe President Obama when he said he would not negotiate on the debt limit. Sharpton then asked Milbank if Republicans believed Obama now. Milbank responded,

Well zip-a-dee-doo-dah, I think they do, uh believe him now. And this is, uh showing again that when this president uh exerts forceful leadership he gets something done...

Milbank added that there was reason to celebrate despite his thinking that the Tea Party is still a "virus."

I think there's reason to celebrate. I know you like blueberry pie so I brought this to celebrate. But I don't want you to get too excited because I don't, I think the fever is broken on the Tea Party here but the virus is still in the body I don't think we're out of the woods yet.

Sharpton accepted the pie and said,

Yeah but blueberry pie with tea will help them with the virus.

Milbank laughed heartily before continuing the discussion.
