Appearing on Fox News’ The Kelly File, Truth Revolt Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro launched into the media, with special focus on Politico chief political columnist Roger Simon’s piece labeling opponents of Obamacare racists and suggesting the drowning of House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) as a solution to the government shutdown. Asked about Simon’s column, Shapiro said:

That’s the way things have been rolled out by members of the left media. Roger Simon actually started that same column by suggesting that America would be better off if Speaker of the House John Boehner and Senator Ted Cruz both drowned…and yet folks on the other side are presumably extremists. He tried to lump in everybody on the right with some moron out there with a Confederate flag at the White House, ignoring what the Million Vet March was really about, which was the Obama administration’s vindictive attempts to shut down war memorials simply to hurt veterans.

Shapiro called the media playing the race card “bizarre and absurd.” He continued:

This is what the left does in order to attack character as opposed to winning on the arguments. The fact is that the vast majority of people who have said that Obamacare needs to be stopped have no racist tendencies whatsoever…but this is what the media does. But this is what the media does. What the media does is misdirect – it’s all a magic trick. If they can misdirect away from the real narrative here, they can pretend it’s all just about racism and hatred when really the only racists and haters out there – at least aside from some fringe characters on the right – are the folks on the left who pay attention to this stuff.

Shapiro pointed out that Organizing for America held a rally on Tuesday at which one person held a sign reading “Tea-Tard.” Shapiro stated, “Nobody lumped in the entire left with that idiot even though that person was a member of Organizing for Action. Everybody sort of understands that there are idiots on both sides of the aisle.”

Finally, Shapiro said, “What we’re watching right now is the Bugs Bunny media at work. They will misdirect and offer you flowers like you’re Elmer Fudd, and then there’s a mallet in the other hand that they clock you in the face with.”
