Not long ago Texas Senator Ted Cruz was in the lead among Republican voters looking to help pick the next president in the coming primaries. Then Donald Trump happened.
Trump has moved up from single digits to take the lead in a just released poll.
A new poll released Thursday puts Trump in the lead at 24 percent support among registered Republicans in Texas, pushing native son Ted Cruz into the second spot at 16 percent.
The latest poll was commissioned by a group called the Texas Bipartisan Justice Committee, which hired the Florida-based Gravis Marketing firm to conduct the research.
Ben Carson is third among Texas Republicans with 12 percent support followed by Jeb Bush with 9 percent. Former Texas government Rick Perry is at 4 percent.
