The Central American country of Honduras, which has been ripe with corruption, has just hired one of the world’s largest PR firms, Ketchum PR, to improve the country’s image, according to documents recently filed with the United States Department of Justice.

Ketchum is perhaps best known for representing Russia and Vladimir Putin for many years until being fired earlier this year. The company was also featured this weekend in the New York Times for shady work in the food/GMO industry.

Earlier this year, Wikileaks revealed that the Obama administration had sanctioned a military coup in Honduras, noting that “The Y.S. embassy in Tegucigalpa sent a cable to Washington with the subject, 'Open and Shut: The Case of the Honduran Coup,'” asserting that “there is no doubt” that the events of June 28 “constituted an illegal and unconstitutional coup.”

And in the aftermath, over the last few months, thousands have protested in the street demanding the resignation of the new Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández for corruption.

Many, including the previous democratically-elected President, Manuel Zelaya, blamed Hillary for his coup - and the mess which exists in the region.

Salon Magazine revealed that “the crisis following a coup in Honduras in 2009 has Hillary Clinton’s fingerprints all over it, and her alleged cooperation with oligarchic elites during the affair does much to expose Clinton’s newfound, campaign-season progressive rhetoric as hollow.” Clinton supported a military coup according to the UN General Assembly, and the Organization of American States (OAS) which led the entire EU to recall its countries’ ambassadors, as did Latin American nations. Only America maintained diplomatic relations with the nation in the wake of the coup.

And Clinton refused to own up to this diplomatic snafu – although the Wikileaks cable revealed that Ambassador Hugo Llorens wrote,“Zelaya’s removal was a cut-and-dried military coup: “The Embassy perspective is that there is no doubt that the military, Supreme Court and National Congress conspired on June 28 in what constituted an illegal and unconstitutional coup against the Executive Branch."

Professor Dana Frank of UC Santa Cruz wrote in the NY Times that the mess in Honduras was “in good part the State Department’s making.”

Zelaya – the previous President – said Clinton’s actions have “resulted in a process of distrust and instability of Latin American governments in relation to U.S. foreign policies."

Hillary Clinton is creating a lot of opportunity for PR firms, such as her buddies Anthony Weiner & MWW PR working for the Dominican Republic. Now one will see Ketchum – longtime Putin allies – come to the rescue regarding Honduras. The document notes that Ketchum will be paid $421,333 for fees over the one-year period.
