A police officer in Kelso, Washington shot and killed a robbery suspect who had returned to the store carrying a large stick he used to attack the clerk and a customer.

The suspect was Omer Ismail Ali, a 2013 refugee from Sudan, who had been living as a drifter in Spokane. The robbery happened last Wednesday. According to a report, Ali robbed the convenient store after his card was declined and returned later with the weapon. 

As luck would have it, police officers were already at the scene reviewing surveillance video footage at the time of Ali’s return. An officer sitting in a cruiser outside warned the other officer inside that the man was coming in hot. 

As soon as Ali got inside, he started swinging at a female customer and female clerk. Once the police officer identified himself, Ali turned to attack him. The officer ended up on the ground before he was able to fire the fatal shot, hitting Ali in the neck and jaw.
