Stephen Colbert's Fake News: Claims Trump Didn't Meet With Hurricane Victims

"He's been closer to a flood in a Russian hotel room."

Stephen Colbert's late night talk show on CBS resumed Tuesday night after a two-week break and the host predictably picked up where he left off: ridiculing President Trump. So original!

Fox News reports that during his opening monologue, Colbert said of the President's trip to Texas in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, "It was a presidential trip to a deluged state where the president didn't meet a single storm victim, see an inch of rain or get near a flooded street."

Then, because Colbert is so classy, he added, "He's been closer to a flood in a Russian hotel room."

Trump made a visit August 29 to Corpus Christi, Texas rather than the devastated Houston because, as Press Secretary Sarah Sanders stated, he didn't want to disrupt the continuing recovery efforts there: "The president wants to be very cautious about making sure that any activity doesn't disrupt the recovery efforts that are still ongoing," she said.

Colbert did mention Trump's second visit four days later, but pointedly did not mention that the president met with many victims.

Fox News reported that some took to Twitter to express their anger at Colbert for the fake news:

"Stephen Colbert is a stupid p---k and should not be on television," another tweeted.

Remember the good old days when comedians just wanted to make you laugh instead of alienating half the audience by pushing a subversive agenda?
