Saturday marks President Donald Trump's first 100 days in office, which means pundits are eagerly trying to say something significant about whether he's lived up to expectations. Even The Simpsons has a 100-day retrospective episode which looks like it's going to be a doozy. Somehow, their version manages to be even more dramatic than the very dramatic reality of the Trump administration. Never a show to shy away from taboo topics, The Simpsons really pushes the boundaries of good taste and manners on this one.
Gossip maven Perez Hilton describes the promo for the upcoming episode:
On Wednesday, The Simpsons released the following clip which depicts their version of Donnie's first few months in office, and it ain't pretty. Not only does Sean Spicer hang himself, enemies Steve Bannon and Jared Kushner choke each other out! We don't even want to tell you what happens to Ruth Bader Ginsburg!
I'll go ahead and tell you: Ginsburg gets booted off the Supreme Court and replaced by Ivanka Trump, who tries to sell gavel earrings to Russians. Also, the President's assistant hands him a bill that "lowers taxes for only Republicans." The Simpsons version of Trump doesn't want to go to all the effort, asking, "Can't I just let Fox News read it and I'll watch what they say?"
I love comedy, I love satire, and I love The Simpsons. However, note that liberals usually freak out when people make jokes about suicide, citing studies that show the tragically high rate of suicide of same-sex attracted and transgendered people. Radical gay activist Dan Savage's "It Gets Better" Campaign was created to combat this trend. However, how many liberals are going to speak out at the way Spicer was depicted in the Simpsons promo?
Apparently it's different when conservatives are mocked with suicide jokes, right Mr. Savage?
