Sharpton Fighting 'No Snitch' Campaign

Sharpton urged his viewers not to participate in the "no snitch" campaign

On MSNBC, Al  Sharpton said that he and others are "pushing back" against the "No Snitching" campaign in the black community. He alleged it was dangerous for young African-Americans to remain uncooperative with the police and said even though he has had "run ins" with law enforcement. he wants young people to work to remove violence and guns from their communities. Sharpton asserted:

We can't have kids feel as though there's something wrong with helping the police keep communities safe and get guns out the neighborhood.

Sharpton said he is still often skeptical of police and will still question them, but said he wants people to be able to share information with police and "not be castigated."

Despite proffering claims he wants people to "snitch" to help clean up their neighborhoods, Sharpton has downplayed the fact that he was an  FBI informant and has distanced himself from a Smoking Gun report saying he was helping target and charge members of the mob.
