During Politics Nation last night, Al Sharpton angrily discussed the use of the word 'slavery' and slavery related analogies to describe Obamacare. He closed his segment by saying that while the Republican party was started to outlaw slavery it only exists now to block everything the first black president wants to do.

We've heard a lot of offensive right wing talk when it comes to the affordable care act. But this one might be the worst. For some on the right, the President's health care law is slavery. Conservative columnist George Will is the latest to offer up this pearl of wisdom. (video clips)

GEORGE WILL:  I hear Democrats say the affordable care act is the law, as though we're supposed to genuflect  that sunburst and move on. Slavery was the law and then we changed them. 

SHARPTON: He's comparing health care to a law that allowed slave owners to get their escaped slaves back, even from free states in the north. but George will isn't the only pundit comparing the law to slavery. 

(video clips) PALIN:  What Barack Obama seem to want to do is to go back to those days when we were in different classes based on income, based on color of skin. 

JUDGE NAPOLITANO: When the government forces hospitals and physician to provide free health care to those who can't or won't pay for it themselves, that's not charity, that's slavery. 

RUSH:  We can't do anything about it, that's the law of the land. Well, so was slavery one time the law of the land. 

SHARPTON: Now you'd expect that kind of talk from Rush Limbaugh and the Fox News crowd, but elected officials? Members of congress? Yeah. They're using it too. 

REP. PAUL BROUN: This insurance card in people's pocket is going to be as worthless as a confederate dollar after the war between the states. 

RAND PAUL: With regards to the idea of whether or not you have a right to health care you have to realize what that implies. I'm a physician. That means you can come to my house and conscript me, it means you believe in slavery. 

STATE GOP REP WILLIAM O'BRIEN:  It is as destructive to individual and personal liberty as the fugitive slave act of 1850 that allowed slave owners to come to New Hampshire and seize African-Americans. 

SHARPTON: Really? The republican party was founded on one issue, to outlaw slavery. Now the modern day GOP, they've got one mission, to oppose everything done by the nation's first black president.
