A local Asian restaurant in Skagit County, Washington, called Lucky Teriyaki refuses to serve cops, according to the Sheriff Department’s Facebook page Thursday. The restaurant's owner has since claimed a misunderstanding occurred based on a language barrier
After enjoying lunch at the establishment, four deputies were reportedly told by a Lucky Teriyaki's owner they were no longer welcome to eat at his restaurant, which he allegedly repeated on a phone call. See Facebook post:
"The owner not only repeated the request but asked that we spread the word to other law enforcement that they were no longer welcome either," said Sheriff Will Reichardt.
"Particularly on the heels of the United We Stand by our Law Enforcement event that was such an overpowering show of appreciation for our deputies and officers serving Skagit County."
Amidst this wave of cop-hating, the Lucky Teriyaki does not represent the last of such insanity. In North Carolina, Sheriff’s deputies at a Zaxby’s chicken restaurant were taunted by employees and served tainted food.
Locals in Skagit County have been showing support for the deputies on Yelp, flooding Lucky Teriyaki's page with negative comments.
UPDATE: The owner of Lucky Teriyaki has since claimed a misunderstanding occurred, breaking down into tears before television cameras. Sheriff Will Reichardt has accepted the owner's apology, who has now invited all local law enforcement to eat at his establishment for free this Monday.
