BuzzFeed continues to fill up precious bandwidth with some of the worst drivel the Internet has to offer. When not offering up stupid listicles to determine what color underwear to choose for New Year’s Eve (yes, that’s a real story), staff writers are compiling the various and sundry ways white people ruin everything.
Patrice Peck, a black staff writer, came up with “37 Things White People Need To Stop Ruining In 2018,” which she sums up with, “First of all, America.”
The top five are macaroni and cheese, protests, South Korean pop music, sneaker culture, and makeup but are not explained as to why they made the cut. Rounding out the top 10 are trees, the USA, the Oscars, the Grammys, and a rap song called Bad and Boujee by Migos, which if you’ve ever heard it, doesn't need any help in being terrible.
The rest of the list is essentially a long lament of whites borrowing from songs and dances from black culture and posting videos of themselves doing them online. Even if the article wasn't racist, it's worthless.
Sure, the piece is getting its fair share of backlash:
However, it’s tough not to think how fast BuzzFeed would be shut down if the piece was written by a white staffer and was titled “37 Ways Black People Ruin Everything.” We calculate exactly 1.3 seconds before BuzzFeed would be wiped off the Internet forever.
