Tuesday, Planned Parenthood's president Cecile Richards sent a letter to the National Institutes of Health notifying director Francis Collins that her organization has decided to change its policy on fetal-tissue reimbursement. 

The Associated Press published what Richards wrote: "Planned Parenthood's policies on fetal tissue donation already exceed the legal requirements. Now we're going even further in order to take away any basis for attacking Planned Parenthood to advance an anti-abortion political agenda."

Not that those "heavily edited" videos that are "not real" (Nancy Pelosi) had anything to do with the decision. Yes, those same videos that showed Planned Parenthood officials quite giddy about purchasing a Lamborghini with the profits received for selling fetal tissue to researchers.

Of course, the wording of Richards' letter was specifically chosen to ensure it didn't sound too much like an admission of guilt. But as lead undercover investigator for the Center for Medical Progress videos, David Deleiden, asked, "If the money Planned Parenthood has been receiving for baby body parts were truly legitimate 'reimbursement,' why cancel it?"

Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) wrote on Facebook, "Planned Parenthood claimed its reimbursements for the tissue of unborn babies was legal, but now they're changing their policies. It’s clear that we need to learn more about their barbaric tactics and the special investigative panel in the House will allow us to do so."

The House Oversight Committee, under the watch of Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), will continue its investigation into the organization. He wrote in a statement:

This is a good, tangible result of the collective efforts of the House in investigating Planned Parenthood. It is helpful in taking away some questions surrounding their transactions involving fetal tissue. Significant questions still remain about Planned Parenthood’s finances. This decision does not answer the question as to why a non-profit, tax-exempt organization reporting approximately $125M in revenue over expenses annually needs a subsidy from the American taxpayer. The Committee will continue its investigation into Planned Parenthood’s use of federal taxpayer dollars.

The conservative American Center for Law and Justice is picking up the torch as well saying, "Planned Parenthood is clearly wounded, but far from defeated." It is pledging to help keep pressure on the abortion giant.

In contrast, Planned Parenthood has sided with the liberal American Civil Liberties Union whose executive director, Anthony D. Romero, penned the following in support of an open letter to Congress that is telling them to "stop interfering with science and research:"

The use of fetal tissue in research has led to major medical breakthroughs, including polio, rubella and hepatitis vaccines.

Scientific liberty is protected by the First Amendment and should not be hijacked by extremists whose real aim is to eliminate access to abortion.

For now, Planned Parenthood is open for business. Women are lining up for critical health services like mammograms… oh wait...
