Of all the people Donald Trump could be getting praise from, who would expect former CNN host Piers Morgan?
Speaking with Greta Van Susteren Tuesday, Piers Morgan pleaded that people not underestimate Donald Trump or write him off as an idiot, characterizing him as a man always in search of the deal.
"Trump’s a very smart guy," he said:
"Primarily, he sees everything in life through the prism of closing a deal. If you understand that about Donald Trump, then very little of what's going on would seem surprising. He's trying to work out in his business brain how he closes two deals."
Piers Morgan has a very intimate knowledge of Trump, having served under him in the past as a winner of The Celebrity Apprentice.
As a committed leftist, Piers Morgan does not agree with Trump's positions, especially on his desire to build a wall on the southern border, but he does recognize that people may be writing him off as "crazy" when they shouldn't. He also advised coastal conservatives and liberals to acknowledge that middle-Americans have opinions far different from their own, and Trump has tapped into it.
"There is a huge swath of people in the middle of America who are listening to things like the wall and say 'I agree with this,'" Morgan said. "That is why Trump is resonating so strongly."
The Freedom Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Therefore we do not endorse political candidates either in primary or general elections. However, as defenders of America’s social contract, we insist that the rules laid down by both parties at the outset of campaigns be respected, and that the results be decided by free elections. We will oppose any attempt to rig the system and deny voters of either party their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
