NYT Calls Nikki Haley ‘Slut’ Over Rumor She Slept with Trump

The Gray Lady has a hard time with words.

Fire and Fury author Michael Wolff tried to cause another rift in the Trump administration by insinuating his discredited book hints at an affair between President Trump and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley. Though Wolff wildly touts his book as the source of all truths about Trump, he also admits there’s no proof to the rumor.

In comes Bari Weiss of The New York Times to set the record straight, but with the most unfortunate of headlines. Weiss reached into the bottom of the barrel and came up with this:

“The Slut-Shaming of Nikki Haley”

Now, the accepted definition of “slut-shaming” means to criticize a sexually promiscuous woman. By using that term in her headline, Weiss is, in effect, confirming Wolff’s baseless rumor and leading readers to believe Haley did have an affair with Trump. This was pointed out by many on Twitter. Here’s one example:

Weiss saw this tweet and the two discussed:

This isn’t the first time the Left was confused by its own language. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) inadvertently slut-shamed fellow Democrat Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand last year by claiming Trump "slut-shamed" the senator in a tweet. Again, “slut-shaming” by definition means shaming a confirmed slut, not someone who is rumored to be one.

In Weiss’s defense, Haley is never referred to as a “slut” in the op-ed and if anything, the writer notes the hypocrisy from Democrats in refraining from showing outrage over Wolff's accusation. Even Weiss knows Republicans are treated differently:

So, the moment the NYT gets as close as ever to batting 1,000, it strikes out with a disastrous headline. And as we know, most people never get past that and read the article. What a shame.
