Saturday Night Live fans who enjoy Alec Baldwin's so-so Donald Trump impression have been eagerly awaiting an appearance by Rosie O'Donnell as Trump adviser Steve Bannon, but now their dreams have been crushed. Rosie herself has announced there will be no Rosie-as-Bannon on SNL, according to Mediaite.

After actress Melissa McCarthy earned rave reviews imitating press secretary Sean Spicer on the long-running, heavily politicized comedy show, the volatile 9/11 truther Rosie O'Donnell, who has no showbiz career now, desperately wanted to get back into the game. She even had her Twitter profile picture Photoshopped to show how closely she could resemble Bannon, hoping SNL would take the hint and give her a call.

But SNL wasn't biting, and even Rosie seems to have accepted that her big comeback isn't meant to be. TMZ caught up with her in Los Angeles and asked what happened. It’s a no-go, she said; that Photoshopped pic was the full extent of her Bannon impression. When asked why SNL didn't go for it, she said “I’m not in the cast.”

As Mediaite notes. that doesn’t make much sense since Baldwin and McCarthy also aren’t officially part of the cast. More likely, SNL didn't want to touch the radioactive Rosie, who is, as the Hollywood euphemism goes, "difficult to work with."
