Newt Gingrich appeared on Fox News with Megyn Kelly Tuesday night to discuss Donald Trump's chances in the upcoming election, and fireworks quickly ensued.

Kelly pressed Gingrich on polls showing Trump trailing his opponent Hillary Clinton. Gingrich repeatedly insisted that there are "two alternate universes" in play: one in which pollsters are attempting to pre-determine the election's outcome, and the one in the real world where, in his experience, anything can happen and Trump's odds actually look pretty good. "I've been around a long time," he said. "I don't take polls as seriously as people who've never run for office."

Gingrich also suggested, correctly, that Fox News was just as "establishment" as other media outlets. "Fox News? Really? I don't think so," Kelly said, but Gingrich shot back "Oh, come on."

Kelly clearly found his optimism about Trump incomprehensible and Gingrich responded acidly that perhaps we should all just go home if she thinks the election’s over. Then Kelly raised the issue of Trump appearing to be what she called a "sexual predator" and Gingrich snapped, saying she accused Trump falsely while refusing to declare Hillary's husband Bill a sexual predator as well. He even dared her just to say the words, "Bill Clinton, sexual predator."

Kelly responded by claiming that “Your defensiveness on this speaks volumes, sir.” Gingrich shouted that "You are fascinated with sex and you don’t care about public policy! That’s what I get out of watching you tonight!” Kelly ended the segment with a final jab about Gingrich needing to work on his “anger issues.”
