Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush saw the new AMC show Turn, based on the Revolutionary War, and loved it. With their continuing success creating stellar shows such as Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and The Walking Dead, AMC is now taking on the American War for Independence.
Turn is based on Alexander Rose’s book Washington’s Spies and tells the story of America’s first spies, known as the Culper Ring.
AMC notes: “A historical thriller set during the Revolutionary War, TURN centers on Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell), a farmer living in British-occupied Long Island who bands together with his childhood friends to form the Culper Ring -- an unlikely team of secret agents who not only went on to help George Washington turn the tide of the war but also gave birth to modern spycraft.”
The new show was given a big thumbs-up from Bush; according to Deadline.com,
As the former head of the CIA, Bush was elated with Turn, exclaiming to the audience after the screening, “AMC put together a brilliant show, a fantastic cast, there’s one problem, however, and that’s waiting till the next episode.
The show premieres Sunday, April 6.
