'Morning Joe' Hosts Kick Florida Gov Off Mid-Interview

"That was weak, sniveling, political wavering."

Mika Brzezinski had just about had enough of Republican Florida Gov. Rick Scott's dodging of a question regarding Islam and America and decided to end his Thursday Morning Joe interview early in extreme frustration.

The MSNBC co-host, along with Joe Scarborough, were asking the governor to respond to his friend Donald Trump's statement to CNN's Anderson Cooper last night: "I think Islam hates us."

Scarborough asked Gov. Scott, "Do you think Muslims in the state of Florida hate America?"

Instead of a direct denunciation of the premise, Scott opted to take a political sidestep into the safety zone of avoidance rather than have his words minced on air. He praised Florida for being "the best melting pot in the world" and said he loves everybody that comes to the state. He did admit that he asked the federal government to halt Syrian refugees to enter his state after the Paris attack until they were properly vetted. Scarborough tried to steer him back on topic to get a definitive answer to "Do Muslims hate America?"

But the co-hosts weren't happy with his unwillingness to give a simple "yes" or "no" answer. In the background, you can hear Brzezinski interject, "Wrap it." She continued:

Okay, no, no. Uh uh. That's not answering any questions. Rick, Rick, Rick, Rick, I know you and Joe are friends, and this is kind of awkward, but can you answer the question... or should we scoot?

When Scott avoided yet again, Brzezinski said, "Thanks. We will move on now."

After a commercial break, Brzezinski added, "That was weak, sniveling, political wavering."

Both hosts really tried to act as though they always demand straight answers to even the most difficult questions. But here's what's funny, or better, inconsistent about their claim to journalistic integrity: They didn't treat Trump this harshly when he was on their program a few weeks ago. They opted to have a light chat, as microphones picked up a very friendly conversation in which they promised not to ask any tough questions. Nor were they rough with Hillary Clinton, who managed to turn Brzezinski into a bubbling mess when she called into the program.

Apparently they suffer from selective outrage -- something we've come to expect from MSNBC.
