Mika Brzezinski earned her label as a Hillary Clinton sycophant on Friday's Morning Joe on MSNBC. All it took was the Democratic presidential candidate to phone in a quick interview to send the co-host into a tizzy. She fawned, she blathered, she practically bowed down to worship at the Clinton altar.
"Okay, so this is big," Brzezinski announced. "This is big." She continued in excitement:
Joining us on the phone right now -- and I will say this has been a long time coming, we're very excited to have Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton joining us on the phone. She's on the campaign trail. I think she's in South Carolina, or somewhere. We're going to see her, in person, soon. But, we're so glad to have you on the phone. Welcome back to Morning Joe!
And the back and forth ensued:
Clinton: Well, thank you! Thanks everybody! Glad to be back.
Brzezinski: I don’t know, are you? [laughs] Are you sure?
Clinton: Well, I think we'll know more in about, you know, five or six minutes.
This delighted Brzezinski to no end.
The co-host later took time to explain how she and Joe Scarborough were so impressed with her 2008 campaign and somehow, strangely, managed to pay a huge compliment to her for not winning:
Okay, so -- ah gosh. There was nobody who was more impressed with you than me and Joe, New Hampshire, back in 2008, which was the most incredible...
We were a lot younger. We had you on the show at 6:00 A.M. And then we interviewed you late at night, 9:30 P.M., and you were still going. Everyone thought you were done. Everyone thought it was over except you, and you were right. And you -- It was the most, kind of, incredible thing we've ever seen in term of a candidate's ability to keep going and be acrobatic, if I could.
Brzezinski admitted to being less than sure as to what the Clinton campaign is all about -- its main message. But having that void didn't stop her from pledging full support in 2016:
I would vote for you if you won.
Not that MSNBC is taking sides, or anything.
