Chris Matthews blasted conservatives like Sarah Palin for portraying President Obama as weak, highlighting their criticism of Obama as a Mussolini-esque dictator at home but an "impotent" Don Knotts overseas.
After playing a clip of Sarah Palin's remarks about Putin thinking Obama is no match for him because of his "mom jeans," Chris Matthews said the former GOP vice presidential candidate and tea party darling was starting to look like comedian Tina Fey, who famously imitated Palin on Saturday Night Live in 2008.
Matthews then widened his criticism, ripping Obama's opposition for thinking he is "impotent."
She's actually starting to look like Tina Fey which is a compliment. So anyway, so apparently he's a lawless dictator who also wears 'mom jeans' and he's impotent and all these other things.
After introducing MSNBC's Alex Wagner and The Washington Post's Dana Milbank, Matthews asked,
You know, what is he Mussolini at home but Don Knotts on the road? I mean, I mean who is this guy? I mean, he gets home and gets the dog cuz he gets fired? Who is he?
Wagner burst into laughter before Milbank answered snarkily about conservatives' portrayal of Obama as a "dictator."
