Radio talk show host and NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch called out the legacy media while speaking at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, just outside of Washington, D.C. on Friday.

Loesch, a mother and avid sports shooter, said she was speaking for millions of average Americans who want to ensure their own safety and don't want to be lumped together with mass shooters. Looking to the back of the ballroom at the Gaylord National Convention Center, Loesch said many in the media like mass shootings for the ratings bump.

"Many in legacy media love mass shootings," Loesch said. "Now I'm not saying that you love the tragedy but I am saying that you love the ratings. Crying white mothers are ratings gold to you and many in the legacy media in the back."

Loesch said there are thousands of grieving black mothers but CNN doesn't put on town halls for them.

The media firebrand went on to say that she and the NRA as a whole support a strong background check system but asked if some on the left want it to fail. Loesch pointed to statistics that say 38 states report fewer than 80% of their felony convictions to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System meaning there are potentially millions of convictions not captured by the system meant to stop criminals from getting guns.

"It's only as good as what is submitted to it," Loesch said.

"Those are millions of people who have been adjudicated mentally unfit or criminally dangerous that are able to right now, go and purchase a firearm."

Loesch said politicians could fix that problem right now but they won't because they are exploiting a tragedy for an agenda.
