US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin had an early Christmas gift delivered to his home -- one he'd rather return, the Washington Post reported. With the return address indicating it was from "The American People," the gift-wrapped box on the front porch of his Bel Air home caused enough alarm that neighbors called police, and Secret Service as well as LAPD responded to investigate. It turned out it wasn't a bomb inside, but horse poo. The scare left neighbors trapped in their homes for two hours on Christmas Eve.
It will not shock you to hear that the package was left by a left-winger, but it may surprise you (or not) to hear that he's a psychologist. The man is Robby Strong of Los Angeles, and he says it was a "prank" and an "act of political theatre" to raise awareness that, in his opinion, "Republicans have done nothing for the American worker."
He told AL.com
The thing I live by is a rule of transparency and I was exercising my First Amendment rights. A few years ago when [a Supreme Court ruling] said that corporations are persons and money equals free speech, that is so absurd and my rule of thumb is now that if corporations are free speech, then so is horses***t.
He says that the Secret Service interviewed him, putting him in the ranks of his heroes Timothy Leary and Martin Luther King (one assumes he means MLK, Jr and simply doesn't know his hero's name) but was not arrested. He thinks it is because he left the box rather than mailing it. "I kind of dodged that whole issue. Is there a law that you can't drop off a box of poo? Not really," he said.
Of course, he blames Republicans, saying
The fact that [Republicans] can be so brazen and act with such impunity tells me that we have to be more brazen with our activism and maybe a bit more aggressive.
Mental health professionals leaving boxes of poo on the doors of cabinet members. This is the left's level of political discourse.
