Jones on Maddow's Flop: If All We Get Is That Trump Paid $38M to America’s Gov't It's a Good Night For Trump

Amen.

By now you may have heard about Rachel Maddow's flop. On Tuesday evening the MSNBC host promised to deliver a bombshell report featuring a portion of President Trump's 2005 tax returns.

If only Trump hadn't bested the progressive pundit by releasing the same portion of that tax return prior to her broadcast. Better, not only did he steal Maddow's thunder, the tax return only served to paint him in a very positive light.

Yes, rather than prove Democrats' claim that Trump "didn't pay his fair share in taxes," the document revealed that our president earned roughly $150 million and, at a nearly 25 percent tax rate, paid $38 million in taxes.

Van Jones also returned with another observation sure to displease his progressive cohorts:

"Here’s the reality," Jones began.

"If all we tonight is that Donald Trump paid $38 million to America’s government, that’s a good night for Donald Trump. I’m sorry. I was really hoping and praying that it would show that not only did he pay no taxes but he charged the government and got money back, but there’s nothing I could get excited about here."

Precisely.

It should also be noted that David Cay Johnson, the reporter who obtained the tax document, told Maddow Trump may have been the one who leaked it to him in the first place. The Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and tax expert said, "It's entirely possible that Donald sent this to me."

"It’s a possibility, and it could have been leaked by someone in his direction."

That the tax return was labeled "client copy" fuels that speculation. CPA Michael Markiewicz told The Wrap, "Any time there is a client copy, that goes to client, it’s for them to keep."

"I’d say 99 of a hundred times that is true. If it says ‘client copy’ it’s the client’s copy."

If so, it would prove, once again, just how brilliant our president is in out-maneuvering the mainstream media.
