The Forward was a once-great Jewish publication, according to David Goldman. However, over the years, it's allowed liberal propaganda to seep onto its pages - digital or otherwise -- until it no longer has much credibility. The latest happened Monday on its website. It claimed to have an exclusive scoop -- an old 2007 interview with Sebastian Gorka, one of Donald Trump's new national security advisors, saying horrible things, including endorsing a militia proposed by anti-Semitic political parties. What an exclusive!
The Hungarian interview, however, didn't seem quite right. Goldman reports that "a clip of Dr. Gorka speaking on Hungarian television full of jarring cuts and jumps, and ending strangely in mid-sentence."
Why the editing? Well, RedState's David Reaboi writes that The Forward:
... edits out Gorka's denunciation of the anti-Semitic parties for exploiting popular fears in order to advance their own agenda. Gorka explicitly says that it is the ultra-right parties that are behind the proposal, and that his party, the New Democratic Coalition, is not behind it.
Goldman writes:
The Forward edited his careful explanation that militias can be part of a democratic state to make it seem that he supported the formation of militias at the moment, when in fact he said the precise opposite, and cut the tape in mid-sentence just when he was about to say this.
As I said, I've never seen anything this grotesquely mendacious. But it still is dangerous. The left-wing Israeli daily Ha'aretz trumpeted the Forward's story this morning.
If you look at media accounts of the 2016 election, you would think that Donald Trump was anti-Semitic and hateful towards Jews. However, the dishonest actions of The Forward in an effort to malign one of his advisors is far more reprehensible and dangerous than Trump's use of the star of David.
Expect to hear nothing of this from the mainstream media.
